End Gambling Ads

Our TV screens and digital spaces are filled with sportsgambling ads. They entice people to gamble more than they want, and they tell our kids that sport = betting.

Gambling marketing is all over athletes and sports people's jerseys, around the sports grounds, in commentators "editorials".

We want a full ban on sportsgambling marketing, not just in "family friendly times", but all the time, just like tobacco marketing is banned.

Gambling harm is a public health issue. Governments should regulate to minimise harm, not maximise profits for broadcasters, sportscode and above all wagering companies.

Gambling is a dangerous adult activity. Sportsgambling bookmakers target the vulnerable and the young. We're fighting back.

It's a year since Peta Murphy, on behalf of a joint, cross party, parliamentary inquiry, gave the government 31 recommendations to reform online gambling, to minimise harm, and help people stay safe.

The key recommendation was a full ban on gambling advertising, on TV, radio and digital spaces.

There's been no announcement in a year. Let's demand the Prime Minister adopt the ad ban and other recommendations.
